Recently, Chromebooks have received a tonne of features to make them a viable alternative to Windows laptops. A built-in video recorder, Picture-in-Picture mode, clipboard manager, dark mode, and other features have just lately been supported by Chrome OS. The noteworthy addition among these capabilities is Picture-in-Picture, which enables you to view video content from any website in a separate, resizable, floating window. Following the instructions in the guide below will enable Picture-in-Picture mode on your Chromebook.
Enable Picture-in-Picture Mode on Chromebook (2021)
Here, we’ve listed three methods for activating Chromebook’s PiP mode. For system-wide Picture-in-Picture support in Chrome, you can either instal an extension or activate a Chrome flag, or you can use the built-in YouTube mini-player option. So with that in mind, let’s go over the steps.
1. You don’t need to enable or instal any extensions to use Picture-in-Picture mode, which is largely available on YouTube. Picture-in-Picture mode can be activated instantaneously by simply clicking the mini-player button or using the I key on your keyboard. There it is.
2. Keep in mind that the PiP window will only be limited to the YouTube tab in this native technique, and you won’t be able to resize the window.
3. You must instal a Chrome extension if you want Picture-in-Picture to function on all websites, not just YouTube. On your Chromebook, you can put the Google Picture-in-Picture Extension (Free) in place.
5. After installation, select Picture-in-Picture from the front menu by clicking on the Extension toolbar in the top-right corner.
Finally, click the extension after playing a video on any website.
7. A PiP window will be created immediately. The window may be resized, and it functions across many tabs as well. Not to mention, it is wonderful that the PiP window also appears on the desktop.
7. In the previous section, we covered the extension approach as well as YouTube’s native alternative. We’ll now cover the native Chrome OS feature that lets you open a Picture-in-Picture window from any website. Enable all three Global Media Controls flags by opening Chrome:/flags.
8. Next, select Restart from the page’s bottom menu.
9. At this point, feel free to watch a video on any website. A music toolbar will display on the Chrome OS Shelf when video content is playing. Click the PiP button to open it.
10. When everything is finished, a Picture-in-Picture window will appear that you may move around the screen, resize, and float over the desktop. That’s very useful, right?

Create PiP Window on Any Website on Chrome OS
In order to enable PiP on your Chromebook and add a distinct floating window on top of existing programmes and tabs, follow these steps. As I already noted, the built-in button works very well if all you want is PiP on YouTube. However, buying the extension or turning on the flag would be much better if you want PiP support on all tabs and windows.
The nice news is that all of these techniques work whether you’re using Chrome on any other operating system or trying to enable PiP mode in Chrome. That’s all we have to say, though.
