Android 10 introduces dark mode for Android mobile devices. Users have been asking for this feature, so I’m delighted it’s finally available. Sad to say, the majority of Android phones currently on the market won’t be receiving the Android 10 update any time soon. You’re out of luck if your phone is not included in the update list. We constantly look for other approaches to offer new Android capabilities to older Android devices because of this. We have discovered an app that enables the dark theme for older Android Oreo and Nougat smartphones in the case of dark mode. Apps that have previously adopted the dark mode can therefore be made to do so on older devices as well. Now that that is out of the way, let’s find out how to activate dark mode on Android Oreo and Nougat.
It should be noted that the software has been upgraded to support older devices running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, Android KitKat, and Android Lollipop. We haven’t tested it on those Android versions, so we can’t speak to how it performs. Having said that, you can download and install the programme to test its functionality.
Dark Mode on Android Oreo and Nougat
Older devices’ dark mode
if the Android skin is more similar to vanilla Android, it functions better. The Mi A1 running Oreo was used for our testing, and it performed beautifully. However, a lot of users claim that it functions admirably on MIUI running Android 7, ColorOS, and other Android skins as well. Simply follow the instructions to test it out for yourself.
1. Install the Dark Mode app (free; in-app purchases available) that you downloaded from the Play Store on your device. Julian Eggers was the developer of the app.
2. After that, open it and choose Night Mode.
There it is. Now, many apps, including Google Photos, Instagram, Play Store, and others, should have a dark style. Sadly, Gmail does not yet support dark mode. However, as long as apps support dark mode natively, you will be able to use it on older devices as well.
adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 2
3. You can select the Auto setting if you want a dark theme that changes automatically based on the hour. It will remain in light mode during the day and switch to night mode as dusk falls.

4. Connect your device to the PC and enter the command below in ADB if the app is not functioning on Android Pie. Restart your smartphone after that, then use the app to turn on dark mode. If you’re not sure how to set up ADB, use this guide.
