How to Jailbreak iOS 10.2 and Install Cydia (Guide)

The iOS 10.2 jailbreak had been anticipated by many people. So much so that some users decided not to update their iPhones at all. This is likely due to the fact that jailbreaks provide a tonne of extra functionality, including the ability to customise your iPhone’s design, obtain modified apps for well-known services, add unique functionality to the physical buttons on your device, and much more. Luca Todesco, thankfully, has now made the Yalu102 jailbreak for iOS 10.2 devices available.

The main drawback to this method is that it only supports a small number of devices, including the iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, iPad Air, and iPad Pro, as well as the iPhone 5S and later (but not the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus). So, here’s how to jailbreak iOS 10.2 smartphones if you have one of these devices running iOS 10.2:

Note: No other version of iOS, except for supported devices running iOS 10.2, should be utilised with this method. Before using this guide, please make sure you have a complete backup of your device. If your device is bricked or you lose any data, I won’t be held liable. You may be confident that it will work because I tested it on an iPhone 6S running iOS 10.2 and it was flawless.

How to Jailbreak iOS 10.2

1. Preparing the iPhone

There are a few things you should do on your iPhone (or the iOS device you’re jailbreaking) before we begin the jailbreak process:

  • Take a backup of your iPhone. You should do this, in case of data loss.
  • Turn off Find my iPhone. You can do this from Settings -> iCloud -> Find My iPhone
  • Disable Passcode and TouchID. You can do this from Settings -> TouchID & Passcode -> Turn Passcode Off .

2. Jailbreaking iOS 10.2

We can now move on to the real jailbreaking procedure for iOS 10.2 if you’ve completed all of the aforementioned stages (they’re quite crucial, so make sure you do them!). The steps are as follows:

It should be noted that while I’m using Cydia Impactor on a MacBook Air running the developer beta of macOS Sierra 10.12.4, the procedure will be the same on other operating systems as well.

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer with the USB cable, and launch Cydia Impactor. Ensure that your iPhone name is displayed in Impactor. Then, drag and drop the Yalu102 IPA file onto Cydia Impactor.
  • You will be asked to enter your Apple ID credentials. Simply enter your Apple ID email, and password.
  • Impactor will then start signing the IPA file, and will load it up on your iPhone.
  • Once the process is complete, you ll be able to see the Yalu102 app on your home screen.
  • Now, go to Settings -> General -> Device Management.
  • Here, tap on your Apple ID email, and then on Trust .
  • Next, go to your iPhone home screen, launch the Yalu102 app, and tap on Go .
  • Your iPhone will restart, and you should be able to see Cydia on your home screen, now.
  • If Cydia is not available, simply launch Yalu102, and tap on Go again.

There it is. After successfully jailbreaking your iPhone, you may easily install jailbroken apps using the Cydia marketplace. The Cydia store offers a tonne of excellent apps, and you can expand its sources to give you access to even more jailbroken programmes.
