Isolate Subjects from Background on iPhone
There are four quick techniques for separating subjects from their surroundings. It’s important to note that any photograph with a well defined subject qualifies for this backdrop removal capability. So you may use this technique to separate a person, a pet, or an object from images.
Method 1: Remove Background from Images in the Photos App
You probably go through your photographs the most on the Photos app. Additionally, you can now do it here directly if you wish to remove the backdrop from an image.
- In the Photos app, open the image from which you want to remove the background. For this example, I m using an image of myself. Now, press and hold on the subject until a white glow appears around the image as shown in the GIF below.
- You can now drag the subject and it will be lifted off the background and you can drag and drop it pretty much anywhere you like. Such as, in iMessage (or WhatsApp, for that matter).
- Alternatively, once the white glow starts showing, you can stop holding the image and you will see a pop-up menu with the following options:
- Copy
- Share
The image can be copied without the background using Copy, and then pasted wherever you choose. Alternately, you can hit on Share and send the sticker immediately.
Method 2: Remove Background from Web Images (Safari Only)
On the other hand, you may do it right from Safari if you want to make a sticker out of a web image you spotted or if you want to get rid of its background. You can utilise the Photos app method described above without having to download the image. Here’s how to delete backgrounds from web photographs using iOS 16’s Safari.
- Find the image from which you want to remove the background in Safari. Now, long-press on the image and you will see a pop-up menu.
- Here, tap on Copy Subject to remove the background and copy the subject to your clipboard. You can now paste the copied image (without the background) wherever you want to use it.
Method 3: Remove Background from Images using the Files App
Images saved in the Files app on your iPhone can also have their backgrounds removed without needing to be exported to the Photos app.
- Open the Files app and navigate to the image from which you want to remove the background.
- Long press on the image thumbnail in the Files app and tap on Quick Actions . Now, tap on Remove Background .
That’s all there is to it; the Files app will eliminate the image’s backdrop and
The Apple Files app also offers a simple method for removing subjects from pictures.
1. Open the Files app on your iPhone, then go to a picture.
2. Click the image long-press and select Quick Actions. Tap Remove Background from the contextual menu after that.
The image’s backdrop will be instantaneously removed by the Files app, and it will be saved in the same place.
Note:Despite the fact that the feature isn’t supported by the phone, the Remove Background option within the Files app appears on our iPhone X as well. Having said that, it appears Apple could have also made the iPhone X compatible with the Remove Background feature.
