Funny how one missed communication can completely upend one’s life. You know exactly when you will send a critical communication that needs to be sent to someone later in the day. However, you neglect to submit it when the appropriate moment arises. You could sustain everything from nothing to a concussion, depending on the significance of the message you forgot to relay. If only you could schedule messages the same way you could with emails. Well, you can if you’re using an Android phone. Here’s how to schedule text messages on Android in 2022 if you suffer from the “forgot to send the message syndrome.”
Schedule Text Messages on Android in 2022
There are two ways to schedule an SMS on an Android device. Use the built-in features that the Google Messages app and several Android OEMs, including Samsung, Xiaomi, and LG, provide first. The second method includes scheduling text messages on any Android smartphone using third-party messaging apps. You can skip to the portion you want to read using either of these two ways, which we have supplied.
Using the Inbuilt Message Scheduling Feature (Google Messages, Samsung, LG, and Xiaomi)
As I’ve already indicated, this feature is intrinsic to the Messages app from Google and select OEMs.
Google Messages
Known manufacturers of mobile devices using this capability include Samsung, LG, and Xiaomi. It’s important to note that not all of their offerings provide this capability. The native integration of this function will also depend on your mobile carrier if you bought a carrier-locked phone.
Let’s begin with the procedures for using Google Messages to schedule messages. To send a message, open the Messages app, type your message, and then long-press the Send button. A pop-up will now prompt you to select the date and time for the message’s scheduling. Make sure the Messages app is updated to the most recent version available on the Google Play Store if you’re having trouble seeing the pop-up. You have the option of manually selecting the date and time or selecting one of the suggested times.
Use the date picker and time picker by tapping on Pick date and time if you prefer to manually set the date and time. Once finished, select Next to continue.
A preview of the selected time and date is now visible. The changes can now be confirmed by pressing Save. Hit the Send button one more to schedule the communication as a final step.
Samsung Messages
To update the message or change your mind later, select Update message by tapping on the clock icon to the left of the scheduled message.
MIUI Messages
Additionally, you have the choice of deleting the scheduled message or sending the message right away.
Open any message or conversation in the native messaging app, tap the plus button, then tap the Schedule Message option to see if your smartphone with a custom skin has this feature. For instance, on my Samsung Galaxy M40, I was given the option to create a schedule message when I tapped the plus button. The same is shown in the image above.
Send Messages Later Using Third-Party Apps
Xiaomi follows the same procedure.
You must click the Plus button next to the compose window. To schedule your message, choose the Timed option from this point on. You can schedule your message from this point and choose the time and day.

Note:If your Samsung device has not yet received the One UI upgrade, you can access the scheduling SMS feature in the messages app by selecting the three-dot menu to the right.
If neither of these approaches yields a scheduling option for your Android device, you may just Google it to see if your OEM offers it or not. You will need to utilise a third-party software to use this feature if your smartphone OEM doesn’t provide it natively.
The benefit of using third-party messaging apps is that they offer a variety of different features that make texting enjoyable and simple in addition to the possibility to send messages at a later time. You may alter everything with the help of the apps, including text size, typefaces, and colour schemes. The only thing to keep in mind is that since we are concentrating on message scheduling, other unique feature sets won’t have an impact on how the apps rank.
2. Pulse SMS
One of the most widely used third-party messaging apps on the Play Store is Textra. The app can do a lot of unique things that your native messaging app cannot, even though it is known for allowing users to change the appearance and feel of the messaging app. Sending scheduled messages is one of those features. When you are typing a message in Textra, press the addition button and tap the clock icon as indicated in the picture.
Here, you can choose the Day and Hour that you want your phone to send the message. The fact that Textra indicates the planned messages with a green clock symbol is one cool feature I appreciate. The time stamp (the time it is scheduled to be sent) for that message will be visible when you tap on the icon. The majority of the app’s features can be unlocked through in-app purchases, which are often free.

3. Do It Later
One of the few messaging apps that is actually redefining how people use standard messages is Pulse SMS. The app offers a tonne of interesting and distinctive features that might improve your texting experience. Text messages can be scheduled, which is one of these functions. When you are in a discussion, tap on the three dots menu that is visible in the top right corner of the app to schedule a message. Select the option for “Schedule a message” from the drop-down menu, then type the message’s date, time, and content. Click “send” after you’re finished.
The way this programme maintains your planned messages is one aspect I do not like, though. The scheduled SMSs are kept separate from the original conversation in their own folder. Although I disagree with this strategy, many people could appreciate it because it allows you to view all of your scheduled messages in a single location. 4. SMS Organizer
One of the greatest and newest message scheduling applications available on the Play Store is Do It Later. Users of the software can schedule tweets, emails, calls, and texts in addition to texts. You may also set reminders from inside the app if you don’t want to plan messages but simply want to be notified of them. The simplicity of use is what I appreciate most about this software. Simply open the app, then tap the “+” button. You will be shown all of your scheduling options, including messages, emails, Twitter, and others. We will touch on the messages icon since we wish to schedule messages.
Once you’ve done so, you can write your message and add contacts (single or many).
You can choose a time range or provide the precise time of the message below.
The message can finally be configured to repeat. When sending repeat messages, the time range option is extremely helpful because it delivers the messages at different times, making them appear human-sent rather than automated.
