How to Show Battery Percentage on Your iPhone

The battery indicator in the status bar of an iPhone model that has a notch does not display the remaining battery life. To reach the Control Center and view the battery life of your iPhone, you have previously had to swipe down. The iPhone 8 and iPhone SE, two older iPhone models with a Home button, have the option to display battery life in the status bar, thus this isn’t the case with them. That has changed with the release of iOS 16, as Apple has now made it possible for your most recent iPhones to display the battery %.

Show Battery Percentage on iPhone (2022)

Four different methods to check the battery level on iPhones with and without a Face ID notch will be covered in this post. We’ll examine all the options for showing battery % on iOS 15-compatible iPhones in addition to the new iOS 16 way that places the remaining battery percentage inside the symbol on Face ID devices.

1. Show Battery Percentage in Status Bar

On iPhones with Face ID Notch

Apple began enabling users to view the battery level in the status bar on iPhones with a Face ID notch with iOS 16 developer beta 5. When you install the iOS 16 stable version on your iPhone, the feature is available. We tested it on iOS 16 developer beta 8.

You can learn how to check the battery % of your Face ID-compatible iPhone in the next section if you haven’t updated your iPhone from iOS 15 to iOS 16 yet. If not, read on to find out how to activate battery percentage on the iPhone X or subsequent models with Face ID.

Apple has announced that some older iPhone models with a Face ID notch will not support the new battery percentage feature with the introduction of the iOS 16 stable upgrade. The business stated that the status bar of the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini does not show the battery %. This is yet another strange move by Apple to only include a function on specific models.

Accordingly, here is how to set or disable the battery % option on your compatible iPhone running iOS 16:

  • First, open the Settings app, scroll down, and navigate to the Battery section.
  • Under the Battery settings, you will now see a Battery Percentage option at the top. Toggle on this feature, and you will start seeing the battery percentage in the battery icon at the top right.

On iPhones with a Home Button

This feature has long been accessible on iPhone models with Touch ID, and iOS 16 is the first version to provide it to iPhones with notches. The battery % on iPhone SE and earlier models is shown outside the battery symbol (on the left), which is the only distinction between the two versions.

The same procedures must be followed in order to enable or disable the battery percentage option on an iOS 16-running iPhone SE 2022, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus.

2. See Battery Percentage in Control Center

The control centre is the closest substitute for the status bar for viewing the battery level on an iPhone running iOS 15 at this time. When you open the Control Center on iOS 16, this still functions. So how does it function? It’s easy.

To access the Control Center, simply swipe downward from the upper right corner of the screen. The percentage is shown here next to the battery icon.

3. Use iPhone Battery Status Widget

You may also use this straightforward workaround if you don’t have iOS 16 loaded or don’t want to continuously visiting the Control Center to check the amount of battery life left in your iPhone. On simply monitor the percentage, add the battery widget to your home screen. How to do it is as follows:

  • First, long press anywhere on the home screen and tap on the plus icon at the top left once all the icons start wobbling. Then, tap on Batteries to check out the available widgets.
  • Here, you can choose between a 2 x 2 square widget or a 2 x 4 rectangular widget, which also shows the battery percentage on all your accessories apart from your iPhone. We selected the square widget for this article, and you can now see the battery left on your iPhone home screen at all times.

4. Ask Siri for Battery Level on iPhone

Finally, if you enjoy using Siri, you may ask the voice assistant to find out your iPhone’s battery level. Just press the power button for a long time and ask Siri how much battery life is left. or What is the state of my battery? Both the amount of battery life left on your iPhone’s screen and Siri’s audible reading of it will be displayed.

Display Battery Percentage on All iPhone Models

Apple has finally made it possible to view the remaining battery life on your notched iPhones without using the Control Center or Siri, after making you wait more than five years. All iPhones, notch-equipped or not, now have access to the battery % option. This makes it simple for you to see how much battery life your iPhone has remaining. The implementation is faulty, as you can see from the screenshots above, as the battery percentage figure is always shown as a full battery icon. When you enable this option, the battery icon no longer depicts the battery as being low, which is strange.
